Complex fibroadenoma seems cancersous

I had a lump removed two weeks ago that had been biopsied and come back as a complex fibroadenoma  all docs seemed perfectly happy that it wad nothing to be concerned about but it wad quick growing so wanted to take it out before it got too big

Got a call yesterday for an appt with the breast care nursers at local hospital and they refused to day over the phone what the results were. Was never supposed to have a follow up appt unless it was more than they thought.

I've looked up what the breast care nurses are for and it's for breast cancer patients so I'm obviously assuming the worst.

Has anyone else had the same ? I had been told its u likely a fibroadenoma would be cancerous but I can't tub what else it would be. I only have to wait to middle of this week for the appt but I can't stop thinking about it now

  • I had what was supposed to be a fibroadenoma removed by a London Hospital as a day surgery patient. The op was on 10 Nov 2003. On 5 Dec I went for my post op visit was left hanging around for hours and then heard somebody outside the room I had been left undressed in say 'There's a woman with a very rare kind of cancer'. Anyway to cut a long story short it turned out to be me.

i had ductal cancer and ductal non invasive cancer focused round one area.  I had another surgery on 19 Dec 2003. I then had radiotherapy as I had breast conserving surgery.

Since 2004 I have had no dealings with cancer services but recently I noticed changes in the size of my affected breast and I have found three small lumps. On Friday I expect to have tests to see what the cells are in them. Not looking forward to this but I don't know why they don't treat us like adults and just ring us up and say whether they've found cancer or not. We are not stupid and I like to know what the science shows. The microscope can identify what it is. My mother and father were both scientists and I like to know the science. Good luck but make sure you get the information you need and I like it in writing. I am sending for my medical records from the London Hospital going back to 2003-4 so I can see how my breast was then and get the cytology results too for my new hospital as I have moved to East Sussex now. Good luck from a fellow cancer (maybe) patient..I am preparing for the worst and there's a lot of luck in it.
