IgG kappa paraprotein

Hi, I've been having problems with peripheral nerve hyperexcitability for a little over a year now, I have just seen a neurologist who did some blood work which as come back abnormal, I was told this in a letter and since then I've been absolutely terrified I've got cancer. I of course googled the abnormal results.(igG kappa paraprotein 2g/L) and it just comes up with everything to do with cancer. The letter also states that he's sending me to a haematologist for more testing and treatment. I'm was hoping to speak with someone who as got this abnormal protein or someone who can ease my anxiety.

  • Hi my husband has this protein but doesn't have cancer so try not to worry they have to do a bone marrow biopsy to find out if it's Myloma, my husband has monoclonal gammoathy of renal significance (mgrs), his attacks his kidneys but the other one is (mgus) monoclonal gammoathy of undetermined significance if you have this they normally just keep an eye on you as long as you are not having any problems they don't need to treat you, but it could turn into Myloma that's why they keep an eye on it

my husband has just started chemotherapy to try and stop the protein attacking his kidneys if it doesn't work he will have to go on dialysis

  • Thank you for the reply, i hope your husband responds to treatment.
