Skin changes in breast

Hi.

Nearly three weeks ago I found a very small patch of skin on my right breast that looked a bit odd. It looked like a mixture between a spot and a bruise. It now looks like a small scar with an irregular round shape. The skin feels thicker than the rest of my breast. If I pinch it I can feel a tiny pea sized lump under it. 

I felt silly bothering the GP with something so tiny that I could easy have missed seeing but as my husband knew about it I had to go, two days ago. After explaining what I'd noticed and an examination the GP said she could see what I was talking about and would refer me to get it checked at the breast clinic.

I know this is the sensible thing to do to find out what if anything is going on but am now irrationally worried that something that looks so insignificant will be something awful. I think being my husbands carer I'm feeling the pressure of him relying on me to be well. 

Sorry for the ramble but I'm hoping it helps me put it to one side for now.

    Hello Ellie22 and a warm welcome to our forum, 

    You undoubtedly did the right thing in getting this checked out even though you felt it seemed quite insignificant. It's great that your GP took your concerns seriously and has referred you to the breast clinic. Don't be alarmed though as most referrals to the breast clinic turn out to be something other than cancer but it's good that they are being thorough and investigating this properly. 

    You might want to have a look at the information on the Breast Cancer Now website on what to expect at your breast clinic appointment. It will give you a good overview of what will happen at your appointment. I hope that you will also hear from the experiences of others on the forum who have been in a similar place before and that they will come and share their story with you.

    Hopefully it won't be long now before you are seen at the breast clinic and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine.
