Bladder cancer?

I have a raised red patch on my bladder lining which is being investigated for cancer. For many years I had an enlarged prostate with a long finger-like  protrusion into the bladder (on the cystoscopy it looked like sea weed waving about in the bladder) but radiotherapy when my cancer reoccurred last year, plus ongoing hormone treatment, seems to have removed it. It strikes me that after at least seven or eight years, maybe even 15 or more, of this constantly growing protrusion  would have been severely stretched and probably permanently damaged the bladder wall. It seems logical to me that this could account for the raised red patch. Obviously I want a biopsy so that if I do have cancer it can be treated as soon as possible, but is my theory a possible explanation? Today I also have a trace of blood in my urine, which while not definitive makes me less sure that I'm right.

  • Hello Oldster

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting on investigations for bladder cancer. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about what this red patch is and what may have caused it.

I'm unsure about the answer to your questions but I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to chat things through with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the tests and results. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
