MRI neck results....tomorrow

I've posted an update in one of my posts

After receiving the phone call last Friday morning I must admit this has been the longest week of my life

I rang the secretary again this morning as I wanted confirmation.

1. On the mention of me going to a head and neck specialist hospital for another scan. I did not hear that right. My scan I had done had been reviewed by specialists at that particular hospital over Easter....

2. I couldn't get a appointment but my consultant needs to speak to me i was to be called between her other patients but as I'm there for my eye appointment anyway  I can walk over and see my consultant for a face appointment if I'm there before she starts clinic between 1pm & 1:30pm...

3. She asked if ill be alone i said yes, she said i can bring someone with me.

And finally my consultant only works at my hospital 1 day a week, she wants to discuss my scan results and has been given a plan by the North West head and neck specialists to create a plan moving forward......

I personally don't know what to think

Good/bad

Covid related, immune disorder, cancer

Tomorrow is nearly here and all I can think about is how ache I feel all over :cry::cry:

  • Hi Mumto3boys,

I saw noone had replied. I hope everything went OK today. It's not great not knowing, but at least now you should know what your results are. I hope it was good news for you.

Why we have to wait, or why we can't get any info is beyond me!

  • Hi Songbird,

Thank you for taking the time to reply,

The appointment wasn't what I expected. The consultant didn't tell me the results or discuss a plan moving forward. She told me if I'm still experiencing symptoms then I need to speak to my GP and ask for a referral to ENT  she had no explanation.

Ive had a turbulent few weeks while I'm happy its not cancer I have swellings/lumps that are there but now too afraid to go to the GP and look into this further. I'm accepting my symptoms are just a new thing to my list of weird and wonderful. I asked if it could be covid related obviously she couldn't answer that either so I'm just going to get on with it.

    Take care

    Chloe x

  • Hi Chloe,

I think it would be worthwhile having a chat with your GP. You should still get a letter off your consultant with their recommendations and basically it will say that you are discharged from their care, they may even suggest that you do see ENT, and that your GP should refer you. The GP will get a copy of the MRI report, so they might be able to tell you what they found on that and why seeing an ENT might help. I would say though (through personal experience) ENT appointments have a very long waiting time especailly after covid.

You should always go with your gut - and if you think something is really not right, get it checked out.

Let me know how you get on xx
