Don't no what to think

I was send for a colposcopy and had biopsies and cells burn off. I was bought in and told I had cervical cancer. I was then given a ct and mri. The  the nurse rang and said it was stage one. I was call again two days later to say it was low garde and was planning to leave it.

I then said I wasn't happy and ask for a meeting to say that they removed the cancer when the did colposcopy.but how cN I be sure that it's been removed, when they have offered me a full hysterectomy

Thanks

  • Hello Brogen25

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had a colposcopy and that following on from that procedure you were told that you had cervical cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned and worried. It's really positive to hear that nothing of concern was found on your CT and MRI.

Early cervical cancer means cancer that is only in the neck of the womb (stage 1A or 1B). It can usually be cured with surgery. For some very early cervical cancers (stage 1A1), it might be possible to remove all of the cancer with a large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ) or cone biopsy.

We've lots of information on our website about cervical cancer however I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I'm sure they will be happy to try and offer some information and advice to reassure you. If you still feel uncertain they'll be able to help you think about what next steps you want to take to speak with the hospital and the kinds of questions you might want to ask. If you'd like to chat with our nurses they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you get some clearer answers and reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi hun,

the worst is behind for you! Try calling again and look into whether you should do the hysterectomy to be safe?!
May least you know it hasn't spread beyond so that must be a huge relief?! Xxx
do you mind if I ask you whether the colposcopist told you there and then during the lletz procedure that he/she suspects it is cancer?
I just had mine done and waiting on biopsy result, my colposcopist said she doesn't think it is cancer but won't know for sure until the results come in & that I might need another treatment :( very confused of what to expect from the biopsy based on her wording :(

How did you colposcopy go at all if you don't mind sharing? X
