Worried about cervical cancer

Hi folks,

I guess I'm just posting here to vocalise my worries about my health.

I am really worried about ovarian cancer (sorry I titled this post wrong!), all my symptoms seem to add up.

I feel stupid because I'd fobbed off my symptoms until Sunday when I had unusual bleeding in my pants, and the day before I'd found a few black bits in the shower that looked like tissue.

For a long time now I think I've had issues regulating my body temperature, particularly when in bed at night, I seem to get very hot and my partner has been mentioning it to me for the past year or so.

I've also got what feels like sciatica, a pain in my back and my bum which I've probably had for around a year. Also feel pain in my hip.

Intermittently I get pelvic pain on the right side where there is the sciatica.

I've also developed acid reflux and I'm burping when I eat and drink.

I'm 31 and so I fobbed off these symptoms but the incident at the weekend has really got me panicked.

I also have a small lump on my neck which I saw the doctor about in February. They said it was likely benign and they weren't concerned about it. So I'm terrified I have cancer that has spread.

I know I shouldn't use doctor Google but I have built a picture in my mind of how all these things interlink.

Ovarian / breast cancer also run in my family.

I am going for a pelvic examination at the doctor's on Thursday but I'm really struggling not to worry.

Thanks so much for listening and hope you are all ok,

Rose

  • Hi Rose,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing these issues.

It will only be your doctor who can advise on this, so it's good to hear you have an appointment booked and I hope that it all goes OK today. Do use the appointment as an opportunity to talk through all your questions and concerns.

Do also try to avoid Googling things as it is rarely helpful and often only leads to further worries.

    Wishing you all the best,
