Two lumps in asymmetrical breasts, 2ww

I'm 32 in a few days and found a lump in my right breast last night. I went to the Dr's this morning and they found it again, and said it was the size of a pea. To my surprise they found another larger lump the size of a walnut on my other breast. My breasts are very asymmetrical and I've always read that this was a cause for concern with breast cancer in the future.
I didn't leave the room filled with hope as I didn't get the usual "I wouldn't worry too much" talk from the practictioner I saw.

I'm now in the two week wait cycle and already over thinking everything! Does anyone have any tips on what to do or not to do during this wait? Or has anyone had anything similar before now? I keep hoping my age is in my favour but I've quickly realised that age means very little.

  • Hi [@Stars61]‍

    Great news!

Park all your anxiety here and keep busy doing other things. The internet is not going to give you any definitive information, leave that to the Clinic. But do come back here and talk if you're struggling or have questions for other users or the nurses, most people find a discussion to join and someone to talk to, especially while in limbo waiting for appointments or results, it's a common thread of discussion!

    Take care

  • Aww I'm so glad you have your appointment through! I got mine today too, my appointment is Tuesday morning so I'm lucky to be seen so quickly. Fingers crossed for us both!

  • Wow what a tough time! I hope you make a good and speedy recovery and it doesn't take it out of you too much. You sound like you have a good mindset with it all.

I've just had my appointment come through for Tuesday so I'm glad I don't have to wait so long.

  • That's great that you got your appointment today too! Mine is a week on Tuesday. Will have to try and keep busy until then.
Yes fingers crossed for us both!

Just checking in to see how you're all getting on?

  • Hi @plumlet

That's so nice of you for checking in! I hope you're ok?
I had my appointment last week, ultrasound confirmed it was a cyst! They weren't able to drain it though as it is a collection of a few cysts rather than one dominant one. Anxiety from it all has yet to go away though but it's better than it was. Think it's because they couldn't drain it but my mind is at peace a little.

I did think about posting when I had my appointment but it felt a little strange when others are going through difficult times when I had a positive outcome.

  • Hi [@Stars61]‍

No need to feel strange about posting when it's good news...lots of us come onto the forum to find similar stories, look for info and answers after finding a lump and so if people only post the bad news and cancer diagnosis then it makes the statistics look a lot worse. I can only speak for myself (but I'm sure others feel the same) that it is really good to see updates that someone has had a postive outcome , no matter what my own situation is

I'm sorry they weren't able to drain it and I know cysts can be bothersome but glad it was nothing more than that and I hear you that it's going to take a while for the anxiety to disperse, that's completely understandable!

It's really important that you continue being breast aware and also go back to GP if your cysts are causing you discomfort in the future.

I'm recovering from a Lumpectomy and Lymph node biopsy that I had on the 18th May, now got 2-3 weeks to wait to see if the cancer is in the Lymph nodes or not. As I said before regardless of the results the anxiety leading up to it is pretty much the same...

Thanks for coming back to update
