Constant HPV results

I became sexually active about 6 years ago. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with High Risk HPV and borderline changes. I haven't been sexually active since then.

In 4 years I've had constant smears and colposcopies with the same results. I've had multiple colposcopies (one with a biopsy) and one time I was told they couldn't get through to the part of my cervix they needed to get to. Something about it being too narrow.

I was told recently I need to have treatment. But I've been told by another source that borderline cell changes don't need treatment, so I don't understand why I was told this. The latest letter with an appointment booked for me said 'this appointment is for review and discussion with a clinician.

I don't know anything about my next appointment than that. What's going to happen?

  • Hi Cazz1993,

It's hard to advise on what may happen at the appointment, but by the way it's described it sounds like it may be to provide an update and an idea of any next steps that may be planned.

You can of course also use it as an opportunity to talk through any questions and concerns you may have, so that you can get all the information you need.

If you feel you'd like to speak to one of our nurses about this, who may be able to advise, then you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
