Indent in breast or stretch mark? Really worried :(

I was recently in the Zara changing rooms where I noticed some unusual markings on my right breast.
It has always been been the larger breast and I had a baby coming up to 10 months ago where I combi fed. Since stopping that (at 7 weeks) I've noticed my breasts have really deflated and I've been left with some skin coloured stretch marks.

However, one stretch mark seems slightly wider (no more than half a cm) and a little deeper than the others. It's kind of blink and you'd miss it but it's definitely there. I can see it in the mirror and when I put my arm up I can see it more, along with some other what I would perceive as normal stretch marks around that area. It looks slightly darker, I can't tell if it runs along side a vein underneath.

Previously I have thought nothing of it, but after seeing it under overhead lighting and now studying it, plus googling I am having really bad thoughts that it could be something more sinister. My partner can see it too, although because of the new texture/ skin stretching of my post partum boobs I don't know if this is a natural change or something to worry about.

I wondered if anyone knew what an indent specifically looks like? I've tried to google and keep getting horror stories. Mine is on the top of my breast, above the nipple to right towards my arm. I've checked and cannot feel any lumps.

Thank you

  • I haven't read further on from this yet but your post stood out as this is the exact same as me. Whenever I have had a smear test I always ask for a breast check, Dr is never concerned and says just lumpy breasts.

However 2 weeks ago I took my bra off and saw a dent in my boob that runs downwards, I associated with the common dimpling found in bc.

Went to the doctors and he checked and said he wasn't overly concerned but could see I was scared so to put my mind at rest booked me in with the hospital. I got my appointment last week and I have the visit today. I had a baby Jan 2021 , and I know I have large boobs with stretchmarks but it really scared me seeing as it's predominately on the right boob. It is also in the same position as you say yours is. I found a little lump in my armpit too which then sent me into melt down. My appointment is shortly and I am so worried:(

  • Hi Jilly

Thanks for your reply and sorry you're going through this too.
i've just returned from the GP this morning who did a thorough breast exam and said she isn't worried either. She said there is no orange peel appearance to the skin and no thickening. The indentation moves quite superficially and stretches out.

She didn't want to refer me to the breast clinic but I really wish she would have. She said she didn't feel it was necessary but if I'm still concerned in a few weeks to go back...which I'm sure I will be.

Really hoping for some positive news for you, will you let me know how your appointment goes.
    Sending best wishes.

  • Hey lovely.

I went in and he asked why he was seeing me today. Explained it all and said about the denting I cab see so he got me to go behind the screens and take top half off. Got me to raise arms and said he couldn't see what I was talking about so showed him how to look at it. He wasn't concerned told me to lay down and gave me an ultrasound and said all looked fine the lump is a lymph node we all have. He said bigger women ( 3 kids later I've put on some and breasts got bigger due to this) said because we carry more weight it can effect them and give a pulling effect as it tryst to lift the weight. He wasn't the most welcoming of Dr's I have to say and I said sorry for waisting your time. The nurse gave me a leaflet for self examining and came out with me  she told me not to ever apologise as that's what they are there for xx

So for me it was positive today xx
