Hello, I am posting to see if anyone has had this symptom I have been struggling with and any insight into what it could be. Since January of this year I have had the feeling of something in my throat when I swallowed. Only when swallowing saliva and on the left side of my lower throat just above collar bone. Went to the dr. had ultrasound on neck and found multiple thyroid nodules, two bigger ones were biopsied, both came back benign. Surgeon said wait for a year and come back to see if they have grown. He said they weren't big enough to remove and didn't feel like they were causing my symptoms. Said it was probably reflux and prescribed omeprazole and alkaline diet, sent me on my way. Since seeing him, I also began to feel a strange burning sensation on left side of my tongue and sometimes in the left inside of my cheek and lower left gums. Chewing gum or eating food seems to relieve my symptoms and sleeping at night i don't have it at all. When waking up im fine for the first hour or so then it starts to come on again. Some days its really really bad and gets me down, and some days its not so bad and I feel like its finally going to go away, then it comes roaring back the next day! I had a ct scan with contrast dye of my neck, I had a laryngoscopy through my nose and down my throat, all kinds of blood work.. aside from the thyroid nodules nothing was found. I have no visible lesions or lumps anywhere. The omeprazole and diet dont seem to be helping much at all. Even though nothing has been found, because these symptoms have been so persistent, my mind can't help but be terrified that it is some kind of cancer that is being missed. Has anyone had any experience with any of this? mainly the burning tongue. It's really horrible! Thanks for any insight! Hope to hear from someone
