Persistent lymph nodes

Hi I am 20 years old and in January I found what I thought to be a breast lump. I've had it looked at by two doctors who both say it feels just like normal breast tissue which is a relief. Around February/ march time I ended up feeling a small squishy lump at the bottom of my neck/ superclavicular region running along my external jugular vein. I also felt a smaller one in exactly the same place on the other side, they both move around and are very soft. I carried on feeling around my neck area and I feel a tiny pea sized hard lump on my jawline which moves around loads a very fast (can be hard to find because of how fast it moves). I am very worried because of how hard this one feels! Since finding these lymph nodes, two GP's have felt them and said they don't feel worried about them at all! I didn't feel comfortable so have been referred for an ultrasound and blood test. My anxiety was getting so bad that I ended up having a private ultrasound of my neck by an experienced doctor who said everything looked completely normal. I don't know how to feel. I just don't know what's causing this hard lymph node and I don't know whether to trust the doctors opinion! 3 doctors have told me I'm fine but I just convince myself that I'm not.  Any advice or ideas on what might be causing the issues would be really appreciated.

I forgot to add that the doctor doing my ultrasound said that the structure of my neck was uneven which could have made one of my lymph nodes feel more prominent than the other and that this is very common and he sees it everyday, so I'm less worried about these ones but very stressed about the one on my jawline!

  • Hello FrazzzleDazzle

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health concerns at the moment.

It's reassuring to hear that you've seen multiple Dr's and also had an ultrasound and that nothing of concern has been identified by any of them.

However, it's clear from your post that you're still struggling with some health anxiety about this problem. Please do get in touch with your GP and explain how you're feeling. There is support available to help you manage how you're feeling and hopefully you will then be able to take the information that you've already been given and be reassured by things.

I hope things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
