Need Advice on Swollen Lymph Node & Other Symptoms

I need some advice on symptoms I've been having if anyone can help

For several months now I've had this constant feeling of a lump or something stuck in my throat, and have also been suffering from drenching night sweats that have got progressively worse. Was feeling around my lymph nodes and one of them (under my jawbone) is hard and swollen to about the size of a peanut. Other symptoms I have are very mild ear ache and mild sore throat

I went to doctors yesterday to ask about my symptoms and he felt for swollen nodes, he confirmed that the one I found is slightly swollen but ended up prescribing me omeprazole for reflux, putting the other symptoms down to anxiety and not really explaining why else I might have a swollen node

Admittedly I do have anxiety but I've really scared myself by seeing other peoples' stories like this where they had the exact same situation with symptoms being written off as GERD or anxiety and it's turned out to be cancer - should I get a second opinion on my symptoms or just leave it?

For context I'm a 24 year old female and I'm a smoker. Thanks for any advice

  • Hello rniiasom

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health concerns at the moment. It's understandable that you've been feeling worried particularly if you already struggle with anxiety.

If things haven't improved with the medication that you've been given then it's certainly worth speaking to your GP, or another one in the surgery for some further support and advice. If your anxiety levels are contributing to your symptoms then what support can they offer you to better help manage this and improve your quality of life?

In the meantime please try to not look for information online. This won't give you answers to your situation but will certainly leave you feeling more anxious.

I do hope things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
