A worried mum to a beautiful 18year old

Hi all. I'm a mum to a beautiful 18 year old. My worries are about her, she over the past 6 months has been poorly, fatigue, sore throat, ulcers weekly, bleeding gums last week, she went to her doctor ( she is at Uni) and was told she is a student and run down. Was quite rude to her. fast forward last week...... a different doctor was quite concerned especially as she found a lump on her glands and a rash, said to get blood test but these are for 3 weeks!!!!! We are very concerned. Surely if doctor was concerned bloods woudk be ASAP.
Any advice would be gratful

  • Is the three weeks waiting for a blood appointment? If so get form from surgery and go to the local blood taking service often at the local hospital for an earlier appointment. So worrying for you l hope she's better soon

  • Try not to panic.  There are so many things this could be.  I remember having swollen glands. A rash sore throat for months when I was a teenager.  And I actually was just run down.  I had had a viral infection causing the glands to swell. And they can stay like that for a while.  The rash could be a viral rash.  If they were worried they would have fast tracked her.

  • So today daughters bloods came back normal. The doctor is seeing her tomorrow due to fact another painless lump has appeared on her neck. Daughter still has cough and a purple rash.

The doctor is now referring her to hospital for scan and to see a haematologist.
