I can’t take it in, husband may have soft tissue liposarcoma

My husband (51) has a lump on his back and on the palm of his hand so after a lot of nagging he finally went to see a GP. She put in a urgent request for an ultrasound  which he had Tues at 2pm, by 6pm the report was back suggesting it's soft tissue liposarcoma and in need of an urgent MRI.
It seems to be happening so fast.
our daughter is a nurse and has printed off a list of specialist hospitals. Has anyone else experienced this type of tumour?

  • Hi Holistic70,

Any sarcoma is rare - very few people will have these - and it looks as if you have an excellent GP and hospital to be picking this up. Sometimes these growths are dismissed as benign - when they are not, so the wrong surgeon removes it and that leads to all kinds of problems (it's a possibility I have had this happen to me very recently - results pending). Your daughter is absolutely right to look at the specialist centres - given the right medical staff and treatment can make this much more likely to have really good outcome. I hope all works out well for your husband - I am so glad they are dealing with him so quickly.

  • Thank you

we've heard today that he's been referred to the nearest specialist hospital on the two week referral so feel more reassured.

I hope your results are good news.

  • That's good news in a worrying time for you. The right people to give your husband the right treatment to give him the best chances.

I wish you both the best of luck.
