Hi, I'm new to this forum and hope I can post this here.
My wonderful Dad is almost 92. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer (Cis) in 2012. He has had regular 6 month check ups since then. He has had a number of TURBT procedures and has had several BCG treatments, the most recent of which was in Dec 2021.
This week, following TURBT in March. he received a letter asking him to attend an appointment with the consultant next week. In all the time my Dad has been attending hospital he has never been to see a consultant. The nursing team have dealt with the BCG treatment. After the TURBT procedures he has just had letters advising whether the tumours removed were cancerous and the stages.
To be asked to go and see the consultant has really made me anxious. Bladder removal at 92 I think would not be wise.
My Dad is independent. He is active enjoying walking and gardening. 2 years ago he participated in a paragliding event and aged 89 he did a parachute jump.! I can't bear to think of him undergoing a bladder removal or chemo.
I'm sorry, I'm rambling on, but wonder what experiences anyone might have or any words of advice.
Thank you do much.
