Breast dimpling

Hi ..

I noticed a dimple on the side of my breast 2 weeks ago, about the size of a thumb, GP was very good and got me in the same day for an examination. She said she could feel a "cord" which I hadn't noticed before. Due to my age (32), no family history, breastfed two babies etc she said she didn't know what I was worried about and thought it would resolve itself but she would like me back to check again.
I went back today and she said she could no longer feel the cord (which I still hadn't really been able to pin point myself) and has now sent me for an urgent referral because the dimple is still there.
I suffer general anxiety anyway which I am medicated for but I'm so worried/scared and I don't know why because I can't change the outcome of what the result will be! I have researched, googled and read countless threads on here looking for reassurance but has anyone experienced dimpling alone and it's not been the worst outcome?
I know they're going as fast as possible but 2-4 week wait seems a life time. I just keep thinking it's definitely cancer. My partner has been great but I'm so conscious of offloading anxiety on him when he already deals with so much of my (unrelated) worries. It's made me realise I don't really have friends anymore too as there's no one I can really talk to!

  • Hi bells,

I didn't have dimpling just the hard lump swollen breast and swelling under arm but I could feel rope like tissue along the side, when I was seen today they said to be that fat nercrosis can cause all of the symptoms I had along with dimpling and pulled in breast to nipple, they said sometime it is hard to distinguish between bc and fat nacrotis because they have very very similar symptoms I hope what I was told today is some comfort I myself suffer terrible anxiety googled daily made my mental health worse

    fingers crossed for you x

  • Thank you so much! I do have a slight pulling of the nipple also that kind of looks like it's being stretched backwards but obviously it's not. When I wake up in the morning after sleeping with no bra on the dimple is much less prominent even though it's definitely not my underwear digging in etc.
It's really hard just to get on and be normal when it's constantly on your mind.
Thank you for your kind words x
