Lymphoma???

Hi, any help/advice would be appreciated :)

My husband is currently in hospital. Over the past 3 days, a lump grew on the side of his neck from non-existent (to touch/naked eye) to a big ball. He was admitted for IV antibiotics and they believe it is an infected cyst on his lymph node. They did a CT scan and are saying they "think" it is a cyst, but need to do an ultrasound as there is a chance it could be cancerous when comparing his scan to others who have had similar. They won't book him an ultrasound for 2 weeks due to the infection. He is going out of his mind (as am I) & was wondering if anyone had been through similar as he has no 'typical' symptoms of Lymphoma (e.g. weight loss, night sweats) & it all seems to have come out of nowhere. Due to restricted visiting, I can't get close to a doctor and he is just not taking the information in when they do come round as he is quite unwell with the infection.

Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum Lporter although I'm sorry to hear about your husband and for the worry the lump on the side of his neck is causing.

This must be a very stressful time for you both but I'm glad you've joined us as you'll find many members of our community have been in similar situations so hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Our team of cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to discuss any of this with them as well.

I really hope your husband recovers from the infection soon and that he can have this ultrasound.

We'll have our fingers crossed the results show the lump is not sinister.

    Best wishes to you both,
