Breast cancer lump worried

Hi All,

New to the forum, I'm 29 years old, no children et, last week I felt a pain in my right breast, didn't think much of it then I started getting pain in my armpit, and arm, called my gp who booked me in for an appointment, I was so concerned and couldn't wait so I went to a and e, who said they couldn't feel a lump and to wait for my gp.

sadly I went to my gp today and she confirmed my breast had a lump and didn't know what it could be, she's referred me to the breast clinic and I'm waiting on my appointment. I'm so scared I have a large chest anyway, my breast is lumpy but in a normal way.

anyone have any advice on how I can manage the pain in my breast before my apppintment I have painkillers, but still feel pain

  • Whatever you do , do not take aspirin or ibuprofen as they are blood thinners and they may want to do biopsies. They should carry out a mammogram and an ultrasound to begin with , then biopsies if they find anything  suspicious , which would be done under local anaesthetic. Don't be afraid of it but please have all the checks done ASAP. You could ask your gp for something stronger like codeine ..I have that for my pain ..but driving could be affected etc ..Good luck x

  • Thank you for responding, I will do that tomorrow, my gp has been a bit useless and prescribed amoxicillin only, I really hope it's nothing serious I've been told I should have everything on the day, just can't wait to have it done - and know either way.

how are you getting on x

  • Hi yes it could be she's thinking infection , as I had no pain with any of my lumps , but deffo get sorted with some codeine ..I'm currently undergoing treatment ..has its good and bad days ..but fingers crossed for you for these tests x

  • Hi thank you for coming back to me, hope you're treatment is going well, still waiting to be booked in I'm so impatient, my right breast especially is sore and a bit painful, I'm hoping pain relief will help.

praying it is just maybe an infection or cyst etc, scary to think, I'd like children one day, and feel like it's terrified me

    Praying for your recovery x
