Post Menopausal Bleeding

Hi All

Suffer from health anxiety so out of my mind with worry. Sept 2021 had a slight brown discharge (just on toilet paper and only lasted a day). Post menopause for 2 years and 54 years old.  Went for transvaginal ultrasound and thickness 5.6mm with fibroids at the thickest point. Gynae did internal, not worried and put it down to thinness on vagina.  Fast forward 6 months and a bit more brown discharge. Went to see GP and he did another internal. He's not worried but I'm scared stiff and have asked for referral back to gynae.  Stomach seems dodgy too but not sure if this is anxiety as have alot of stress at the moment.

  • I'm in almost exactly the same boat as you!

I'm 55 and nine months ago had bleeding eighteen months after last period. I had the scan (lining 5mm) and the hysteroscopy (normal) and today I'm bleeding again. I've sent an Email to the GP and will wait to see what they want to do - I thought you got rechecked after six months but on another forum someone had been told they only recheck after a year.

I'm going on holiday on Sunday and this has definitely put rather a downer on things!

I've done a bit of research and it does seem there's not a greater risk of it being cancer on recurrence (some studies suggest less) so that's something.

At the moment I'm staying somewhat calm - everytime I've gone to the loo since all this started I've had a little niggle of fear that it will recur so it's not as if this has really come out of the blue. My body somehow has never felt that it's done with periods and actually a couple of weeks ago I was having a lot of whitish discharge so I guess something was building up.

Feel free to chat if you think that would help - I'm sorry you're going through it as well but there is something nice about not being alone!

  • Hi. Thanks for reply. I'm just waiting for GP to get back to me. 5.6 mm would not be an issue for normal people I suppose. I hate health anxiety
