Results after mole excision

I had 2 moles removed 2 months ago which I took to be a precautionary measure as in they were new/had grown so had become noticeable as moles but other than that didn't look particularly suspicious and I took this to be a precautionary measure. I am covered in moles and have been having 6 monthly checks for a couple of years.
I had forgotten about it really and assumed no news was good news as it has been with other test results from the doctors. Anyway I have had a letter in the post today inviting me to an appointment at the oncology clinic in 2 weeks time. This is al the letter says and is obviously in regards to the moles. The mole mapping I had done was at the oncology clinic so this isn't necessarily bad news, my anxiety is through the roof though as I assumed if it was good news they would send you a letter.
I am 5 months pregnant and concerned for my blood pressure waiting for this appointment. I will try and get it moved sooner so I don't have to wait as long. Does anyone know whether results are always given at an appointment these days regardless of good or bad news? Times have changed over the last couple of years so am unsure whether everything could still be fine or whether I need to prepare for the worst. I'm in Leeds if anyone has specific experience here as it could be region specific.

Thanks very much

  • Hello rIngmybe11 and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

Due to the pandemic, the way results are given, whether they're good or bad, have changed in many parts of the country but try not to jump to any conclusions or think the worse. I know that's much easier said than done but there could be many reasons why they want you to attend the clinic.

Some of our members have actually found it to be more helpful to be able to speak to someone in person when getting their results so try to concentrate on the positives of this situation if you can. Hopefully some of them, especially the ones in your part of the country, will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but in the meantime, I hope you're successful in getting your appointment brought forward and that this article helps you whilst you wait.

Wishing you all the best with your results and the rest of your pregnancy rIngmybe11.

    Kind regards,
