Breast lump

Hi, just hoping to have some advice... Around 2 months ago I noticed a hard lump in my left breast just underneath my nipple. The past few months I have also been feeling a sharp pain in my left breast and a tugging feeling but I know this isn't usually a sign to worry about. I have quite large breasts so are prone to spots/ blocked hair follicles under my boobs.

I put off going to drs thinking maybe it was just a spot coming up. My partner noticed said lump and said I should get it checked out as it wasn't painful like a normal spot and my breast had quite alot of red thread like veins come up. I spoke with the GP over the phone and he has referred me to a breast clinic due to lump and family history.

The lump itself I can no longer feel, the veins are still there. I was thinking of maybe cancelling the breast clinic appointment for next week considering the lump seems to have gone (think it may have been just be a spot underneath the skin). I don't want to waste anyone's time where the appointment could be given to someone else waiting.

  • Hi there, please don't cancel your referral it needs checking out.

I had a lump for some time one minute I could feel it and then I couldn't but got it checked out.
I am sure it will be fine for you as not all lumps are cancerous and fingers crossed yours won't be. Mine turned out to cancer unfortunately but I'm nearly on my 5 th cycle of chemo out of 6 and am so glad they found it when they did, I have no spread to my lymph nodes which is good however it has eroded a blood vessel so can't rule out any stray cells that's why I'm having chemo. I am more than happy to have all the treatment if it means it's all gone when I've finished.  I just wished I had gone when I first felt it as I wouldn't have needed chemo.

Its better to get it checked and put your mind at rest.

    love Andrea x

  • I'm currently going through similar, I have an appointment Thursday at the breast clinic. I have a firm bumpy lump under my right nipple, no pain but some pulling sensation. I'm in perimenopause so hoping it's down to that. It's honestly better to heg it checked and it be nothing than to leave it and it turn out to be something sinister.

    Hope you're okay x
