2 week gynaecology referrals

Had transvaginal scan showed something on my right ovary ca125 is 39 what will happen at first appointment thank you

  • Hi I went through a similar process a couple of months ago. My ultrasound showed a large cyst on my right ovary, my CA125 was 60, and I was referred on a 2 week urgent referral. At the gynaecology appointment I had to explain all of my symptoms/history again to the consultant and was given another physical examination. She then told me she thought the cyst was an haemorrhagic cyst/endometrioma, but sent me for several blood tests that day, as well as booked me an MRI. She explained the slightly raised CA125 can be for a number of other things as well. I had a pelvic MRI a few weeks later (took 90 mins!), and don't know the results, but I'm waiting for an appointment with a different gynaecologist now at the end of this month, hopefully to talk about a treatment plan/surgery.

I just remember the urgent referral making me feel incredibly worried. It's really hard but just try and see everything as just another step in your diagnosis - all of these appointments and tests are necessary to get the best treatment and to get some answers. Make sure you're prepared for your appointment with some questions, and try not to forget to ask them in the moment as it goes very quickly! Really hope all goes ok x
