Good morning I have been told my platelets have been up and down for 2 years. I am currently above the requirement but have recently been told I went down to 12 at one point. I have had 4 transfusions to boost them back up over the years. How are you feeling in yourself? If you don't mind me asking. I know when my platelets are low as I get tired and out of breath quickly. The Dr obviously doesn't feel concerned so that is a good sign.
I feel ok in my self I have been getting dizziness and light headed at times and generally tired, I assumed I had low iron or b12 but they have come back fine.
I googled low platelets (i shouldn't have) now im worried incase its something underlying. I cant really make sense of the information iv found.
Can platelets be low for no reason or is it always caused by something else?
My anxiety has been through the roof, but your right the doctor doesnt seem concerned. I worry a lot so i am probably overthinking. Iv just never heard of this before.
Good afternoon. My low platelets are caused by the medication I am on. I have a GBM4 and am on chemotherapy every 4 weeks for 10 days. This has a tendency to cause my low platelets. Reading medical ailments on Google causes more anxiety because as you said it is all babble. Medication can cause low platelets. The platelets prevent your blood clotting but I don't appear to have this but I do have bruises especially after having bloods taken and transfusions but they go after a few days. My oncology nurse has always monitored my bloods and this 3 weeks is the longest without a blood test. At one point it was one a week. Please don't worry as if there was a problem they would be straight on it.

I have recently taken up reflexology under my mare curie care it really helps. I have reiki and foot reflexology under my treatment. I have my next oncology consultation by phone and MRI middle of the month. You do not sound silly. I use mediation music as recommended by my one of sister in law.
