Breast clinic help.

Hi. I have had a few issues with my breasts. First I noticed an indent in my right breast in December so was sent to the breast clinic. I had a mammogram on both breasts. Dr said not concerned but wanted ultrasound as saw some asymmetrical glands. They ultrasounded right breast.
not long after I got a rash on my left nipple and a lump like spot. Gp said fungal as I was still breastfeeding my toddler. Gave me cream and rash went but I still had the spot like lump that's dermatologist and GP said was normal.

4 weeks ago I noticed a lump in my left breast I went to a gp I didn't know and she just looked at breast and said no probelm( no exam) I went back a week later to my normal go and she said there was a lump and wasn't there in December when she examined me.
i was then sent to breast clinic. The consultant sent me for ultrasound and I had a two needle aspirations and four core biopsies  of the lump.
The radiologist said that it didn't look concerning on the image and thought it looked like a lipoma. The needle aspiration results come back after ten minutes as c2 which suggests it's benign. I'm still waiting on the biopsy results. Currently they have a back log so it's 3 week wait ( private hospital) I have appointment on the 11th April.
im really worried even though consultant believes it to be benign. Why did the lump not show on the mamagram in December? I've been having aching in this breast since September last year. It's not constant so thought it hormones.
Today my armpit on my left aches and I'm not sure if I feel a lump in the middle.
I don't know what to do anymore. They believe the lump to be benign but I don't know why it's grown so fast and why my arpit is now sore.
many breast is black and blue just now and still swollen where they took biopsies.
anyone have experienced this and any advice. My auntie had breast cancer and said you don't really experience pain. My friend passed away in December from secondary breast cancer.
I'm 41 and have three children. I stopped nursing in December.

  • Hello Emmy

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some concerns about your breast health over the past few months and that you're now waiting for some biopsy results.

It's reassuring to hear that the radiologist didn't have any immediate cause for concern and the needle aspiration results were suggesting the lump is benign.

We know that for many people, waiting for results can be a difficult time. It can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it beneficial to have a chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on at your appointment next week.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Emmy,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your breast issues, You have done the right thing iby getting these investigated. The wait for the results is always agonising and our imaginations take us to all sorts of dark places. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and would agree with your aunt. Breast pain seldom accompanies breast cancer.

It is quite possible that your rash was due to a fungal infection, when you are still breast feeding. The result of your biopsies should give you some answers. You say that this lump has grown very quickly. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, hormonal or fibrous changes.  You will naturally be worried , when you have lost your friend so recently. It sounds as if your care team are expecting a benign result. Here's hoping that they are right!

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
