Repeat treatment Lletz for CGIN

Hi,

Just after some advice please.

I had a smear test in February, it showed I had HPV and adnormal cells.
An appointment was booked at the hospital soon after and I had the Lletz treatment. I was told mine was cgin.

finally stopped bleeding 6 weeks ago, results came back no evidence of cancer.  But letter explained they would discuss my case with their team and write to me with outcome.

A letter received today from the hospital explained the results of cgin had gone to the margin of treatment and due to this they suggest I repeat lletz treatment at least six weeks after first treatment.

Has anyone else had to do this? Just wondering why, finally stopped bleeding but now got to go through it all again. :( and probably very soon.

thanks

Laura

  • Hello Laura and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am not sure myself why they are repeating the Lletz treatment just six weeks after the first treatment but perhaps you could get in touch with your GP and ask them to explain to you why this has been decided. I can imagine it is a bit frustrating for you to have to go through it all again but this will have been decided for a good reason and hopefully it will all be completely sorted for you very soon.

If you have any questions or want to talk things through, don't hesitate to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will hear from others who have had to go through this previously and also had repeat Lletz treatment. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you!

    Best wishes,
