Biopsy results waiting time - experiencing delays in Suffolk

Hi. Just wondered if anyone recently waiting for biopsy results are experiencing delays? I'm in Suffolk and had a tonsil biopsy over 3 weeks ago but after ringing secretaries to chase,  results still aren't back.

I've only told a hand full of people about it but rather not bring it up to them now - although it's meant well, the "I wouldn't worry, surely no news is good news" comments I'm not finding helpful. My consultant was actually quite optimistic at the time of biopsy; she said she would send as urgent and be in touch within a couple of days. Hoping that the delay is purely back log and not sending for further tests etc.

Anyone else?

    Hi riverdale,

You must be finding it very hard to wait over 3 weeks for  biopsy results, which you were told would be back in days.  There are delays throughout the country due to Covid and, these are worse in some areas than others. I agree that it is not helpful when friends and relatives try to buoy us up with "the no news is good news". This is so frustrating, when we know that this is not always the case.

Have you phoned your consultant's secretary? This is the person most likely to know whether or not they are back yet and, if not, when they are likely to be back. They will usually tell you if they have to carry out any further tests and, tend to call you back to take more samples if this is necessary.

I do hope that you get your results soon and, that it turns out to be good news. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
