What happens if you're diagnosed with BCC?

I have a mark on my forehead that has been growing over the last couple of years. It has become increasingly flaky, red, and now looks more like a scaly dent. Having done some research I think it looks like BCC. It's about 1cm wide but the area around it looks shadowed. I've made an appointment to see the GP but am wondering what the process will be if it is. As it's in the centre of my forehead I'm concerned about having it removed and how long the healing will be. Any advice from someone that has been through similar would be appreciated.

  • A warm welcome to the forum SandyS although I'm sorry you think you may be contending with BCC

I really hope this doesn't turn out to be the case but if it does, you can find out more about getting diagnosed just here. I hope this information helps but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have been through this process will share their advice and experiences with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you and hope your GP appointment goes well.

    All the best,
