Is this bowel cancer

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a bit of advice if possible please.
I've had some lower left abdominal pain - feels like burning for months now, its not interruptingly painful and I'm not sure if anything makes it worse or better because there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. I've been to the Dr a few times and no changes to my diet have improved anything. I had an ovarian scan last year which was clear.

I'm not passing any blood and I remain regular until the sense of amount of times but I don't know really how to determine a persistant change in habits regards stool type.

I feel like they change a lot but not continually if that makes sense. I've been tested for celiac and had bloods tested for things like anaemia which have all come back clear.

I'm waiting for a referral hopefully for a colonoscopy but my Dr told me there was a 2yr waiting list?!

I don't want to waste the time of the A&E Dr's but I can't wait that long. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thank you!

  • Hi Daffodil22,

Just like you I have been experiencing lower abdominal pain for almost 1 year now. I could not determine if was coming from the bowel or left ovary and the GP last year sent me for an internal percic scan (all clear). I feel sometimes constipated as if something Is stuck in my bowel around where the pain is but 2 FIT tests came clear as well.

The pain was not too intense and intermittent abs after a few laxatives I felt better until this Feb. The pain returned, more intense and keeping me awake at night. I went back to the GP and thought a rectal exam the GP felt a rectal mass and I've been referred toa  Colo rectal team

I've now had a colonoscopy (clear as the mass seem to come behind the rectum wall) and I'm currently waiting for MRI result.

The pain has become more debilitating and now affects my lower back on the left side a lot and sometimes down my tight.

My only advise is too keep pushing for further examinations/ tests. All the best. Xxx

  • Hi,

Thank you for getting in touch. I am hoping for the best for you, when do you get your results? The sooner you can get answers the sooner everything can hopefully be resolved for you.

it's such a shame we have to push so hard. I have never understood why they don't rule out the worst first to save so much anxiety and pain for people.

I will certainly do that, best of luck x
