Hi,
I had my routine smear on 28th of January and didn't get the results until 8th of march which was HPV positive and high grade dyskaryosis. I received a letter the next day for a colposcopy appointment which was this Tuesday just gone 22/3, the procedure was so painful for me although the nurses were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to ensure I felt comfortable. The colposcopy showed an area of CIN 3 and then when the nurse applied iodine she kept asking another nurse for more iodine and she then showed me in the screen that the entire cervix was covered in CIN2, the nurse took 3 punch biopsies and explained to loop procedure wouldn't be suitable for myself. Once I was back dressed they sat me down and explained that we just have to wait for the biopsy results but that I will be referred to a doctor as part of my cervix will need to be removed and this will be done under general anesthesia, she said once my results come back they will have a multidisciplinary meeting to discuss the best way to go in regards to treatment. I think when all this was said I didn't properly take in what was being said as I was in pain from the procedure. So now days later I'm dwelling on it and I'm terrified I have cancer , I'm 30 and yet to have children so this is a really scary time for me. I was just wondering if anyone else has had to have some of their cervix surgically removed and if so was this because cancer was confirmed or more a preventive measure .
Thanks,
Jade
