Sister passed recently now I wait results

Shortened version! Sadly lost my beautiful sister last month, age 54, primary kidney cancer - diagnosed & passed away within 8 weeks! Family history of kidney cancer (other sister passed at 38 & auntie at 39) Saw GP last week & explained my concerns-really empathetic & had an ultrasound 3 days later! Received a call to say sinister 2cm lump on right kidney - referred to urologist.
should I be panicking!! I'm 49 & we haven't even buried by dear sister yet

  • Hello Claire1511

I'm so sorry to hear about the recent loss of your sister. It's clearly a difficult time for you all and to now have to face your own health concerns it's understandable that you may be feeling anxious and worried about things.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long to see the specialist and they will be able to give you some firmer answers about the area of concern that was seen on your ultrasound. In the meantime, I'd suggest giving our team of nruses a call and chatting things through with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can ahead of your appointment and help you think about some questions that you may want to ask. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Claire and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
