Breast cancer for third time???

I had tnbc in 2019, had chemo, lumpectomy, radiotherapy. A year after that I got diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer for a second time at the end of 2020, went through chemo again, double mastectomy, temporary implants, got necrosis on one side, followed by continuous bouts of cellulitis, had that implant removed, but still leaving the right implant in. I found another lump on top of my implant which was left, went for an ultrasound, they said the lump could be another cancer but we're unsure, as couldn't do a needle biopsy because they didn't want to risk damaging the implant and causing unnecessary surgery. So had to have a breast mri on Friday just gone with contrast. I am freaking out and really worried that the cancer is back for a third time. How long did people have to wait for mri results to get a diagnosis? And anyone else been through a similar experience?

  • Hello Ellie1989

I'm sorry to hear that you're facing a possible breast cancer diagnosis for the third time in just a few years. It's understandable that you're feeling really worried about what this most recent lump may be and what may lie ahead.

Don't be afraid to give your breast care team a call and ask when you may hear some news. It's possible that they may be waiting on the images being reviewed by the MDT but I'm sure if you call the nurse she will let you know when you're likely to hear something.

In the meantime, if you want to chat with our nurses for some support you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I really hope you have some answers soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
