More tests. Maxillofacial

☆☆UPDATE☆☆

35F

I had my maxillofacial appointment today must admit was really nervous.... unfortunately seem to have had a bout of laryngitis again the past week and have lost my voice. No pain so whisper whisper it is.

The consultant was lovely had a look at the lesions in question at the back of my throat and on my hard palate, as I had a filling near this one she said best get a detailed xray of my jaw as that would be treatable... fast forward to after the xray she was surprised to find no teeth abnormalities except the fact that my wisdom teeth are still up high in my gums, my husband said that explains it (not wise yet) :silly:

So Maxillofacial are keeping me on urgent pathway for now I have inflamed lymph nodes at back of throat, inflamed tonsils, and some palpable nodes in my neck.

1.Renal bloods

2. Urgent mri head to chest with dye

3. Phone secretary once I've had scan.

4. Joint appt with ENT to do a scope in clinic.

5. Have 24th May follow up as a precautionary.

Her view she's wants to tell me she can't find anything wrong

:confused::confused:

Not sure where we are going to be honest but living on the positive that she thinks there could be no answer...

  • Hello Mumto3boys_86,

Thank you for updating us on how it all went. It can't be pleasant poor you to have lost your voice and having to whisper all the time. I hope it's coming back gradually.

It sounds like you had a lovely consultant who was very thorough. You made me laugh when you mentioned that your husband said that explains why you are not wise yet if your wisdom teeth are still up high in your gums. That was very funny. It sounds as well like you are none the wiser when it comes to knowing what is going on and I hope that you will get some answers soon.

It does seem though that they know what they are doing and have a detailed plan in place so hopefully it won't be long now until they find out what is causing all this.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that things improve quickly and it turns out to be nothing of concern. Keep us updated when you get a chance on what you find out.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your reply Lucie

I'll be happy to leave the good or bad news this time

my husband is funny bless him

I'm hoping for answers my overall symptoms are a few years in now with no official diagnosis could be either mechanical or functional

7 days in with no voice again is frustrating as it's not painful i hope it comes back quicker this time

I'm getting my bloods done Tuesday so hoping the MRI will be booked in soon she said upto 3 weeks

I'm sure it's just another notch to add to my weird and wonderful no explanation of symptoms but I must admit I am scared this time as my throat looks exactly the same as it was in November just looks so angry no pain at all now but uncomfortable swallowing maybe it is a reaction to the covid but I don't want to except this is my new normal just yet

thanks I'll keep you updated xxl
