Frustrated by delays

Following on from blood tests by my GP which revealed increasing ALP (Alkaline Phosphatase) Levels over a lengthy period of time - my GP sent me for an Ultrasound Scan which then took 6 weeks before I had a date.

I am 5 and half years post Sentinal Node Biopsy/MX/Diep/ and a few other procedures so am wary of anomalies and other things to watch for!!

The guy who did the ultrasound said that results would be with my GP by the end of the week and two and half weeks on there are still no results. This is despite me chasing up the Doctors Surgery and the X ray department who said that it was waiting to be verified and couldn't see why there was a delay.

Nine weeks from when a very fraught and stressful phone call with the doctor which resulted in me making a complaint to the Practice Manager  and now I can feel my stress levels going through the roof. :angry::angry: I just don't have a good feeling about all this. Good or bad - I just need to know!!

Just a rant!! Honestly!!

  • Hello Swampy1901

I'm so sorry to hear about the delays that you're experiencing in getting your ultrasound results. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated.

If you've still had no news then I'd suggest getting in touch with your hospital PALS department. They provide a point of contact for patients and can help resolve concerns or problems.

I do hope that you have some positive news soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Well I finally had my results last Thursday from the GP which revealed multiple gallstones - but as they are not causing any problems they are not concerned about them. I also have multiple lesions in my liver and one of my kidneys but plenty of people have them and they are often benign. But the GP said that he was seeking advice as he wanted to speak to a Gastroenterologist for further advice. Well, a text message yesterday said that as a result of the advice I was being referred for a CT scan for further investigation.

That was followed up today with a Q & A Session with a nurse from the hospital and an arrangement for blood tests to be done along with the CT scan hopefully on the same day so I'm not running around all over the place.

I'm feeling better about the whole thing now and was stressed out partly because we were due to pay the balance of our holiday and also buy insurance. One of the questions on the Insurance was - were we awaiting any results of scans etc? So having had the answer on Thursday - I thought - sod it! and paid the balance and the insurance as I could truthfully say at that point that there were no results outstanding!!

I'm back in the mindset that I should deal with stuff as it happens and not pre-empt anything. It's just a pity that I fail once in a while!!

But thank you - it's just good to rant every now and then!!
