For the past month or so, I've been waking up in the morning with a metallic taste in my mouth and producing brown spit. I've also had the odd streak of blood in my phlegm on a couple of occasions. I've also been suffering with heartburn and indigestion a fair bit (I suffer from acid reflux).I've been to see my GP, and she thinks the blood is coming from my teeth and that the brown spit is caused by the reflux. Prescribed Omeprazole, which I'm taking every day, and have an appointment for a chest x-ray on Monday. What's really worrying me now, is that I'm now producing pink and bloody phlegm almost every day since I've been to my GP. I don't have any other symptoms, apart from a slight, irregular cough. I'm an ex-smoker, I stopped on Jan 1st, so obviously my first thoughts turn to lung cancer. I'm scared witless, and I don't know where to turn to. The anxiety of waiting for the x-ray is terrible - I'm struggling to sleep and I can't concentrate at work. I know once I have the x-ray, waiting for the results is going to be so much worse. I can't bear the thought of leaving my wife and my kids on their own. I don't know what to do...
