Severley Atypical Mole

I had 2 moles removed in early January as one had grown rapidly over a couple of months. I waited 7 weeks for the results as they had requested a second opinion from another pathologist. It was agreed that no melanoma was found and that I had 2 severely atypical compound Nevi. " weeks later I have received another letter informing me that they were so severe that they have decided to a further excision with a further 5mm margin around my existing scar. However this is as a precautionary measure. I can't help but feel really anxious about this. Has anyone had a similar experience?
  • Hi Micdomwill,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must all be a bit concerning. However it sounds like they are being very thorough and also cautious, which is reassuring. The precautionary measure is ultimately a good thing, if it leads to greater confidence for themselves and also for you.

If you have any concerns at all, do discuss these with your doctor or with the specialist at the appointment or at the next opportunity.

Meanwhile if others have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along here soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
