Scared and worried about my little boy

Hi,

I don't know why I'm posting, I'm not sure what I want to get out of it, but I just feel sick.

My 7 year old boy is loosing weight. There's no cause, no sickness or dieareah. He's so tired, all the time. He feels yucky and describes that he needs to steady himself sometimes. Sometimes he is so lethargic he can't even lift his head up. In recent weeks he's been falling asleep and is really difficult to wake. We've been to A&E when this has happened.

So far we've ruled out diabetes and almost ruled out celiac, so it seems we are left with 1 option. I feel sick. There's no swelling of any lymph nodes and like I said no sickness. He has asthma and in the last few weeks has been given a brown inhaler as his asthma has got worse. His temp is consistently sitting around 37.5 when it used to sit around 36.2. I have this feeling in my gut that it's bad. I just feel sick.

Tomorrow we have a rapid access appointment with a general pead and I'm hoping he will do a fbc which hasn't been done yet (they couldn't get enough blood from my boy, so are getting the pead department to  take his blood)

I just need to get through the night, but my brain wants to over think everything.

I want to scream and cry and the wait is the worst. I just need to get through the night then I can ask all my questions to the pead tomorrow right??

  • Hi Pawpatrolislife,

I'm so sorry no-one was able to get back to you before your son went for his paediatric appointment the other day but I really do hope you managed to get some sleep and everything went o.k.

If you have any questions playing on your mind since then or there was something you forgot to ask at the time and would like to talk things through with someone then do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

I know with all the symptoms your son has been experiencing that this must be a very worrying and stressful time but our community are here for you and we will all have our fingers crossed that nothing sinister is found and your son starts to feel better soon.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
