7 weeks wait mole biopsy

Hi,

This is my first time posting :). It's been 7 weeks now since I had a mole removed (originally found it november 2021 but derms didnt think it needed removing until january) and I've been really good so far at trying to get on with my life and wait for the results without thinking about it too much. But I was told I would get results in 4-6 weeks and this past week I have been really starting to panic, thinking of the worst and stressing that if it is the worst, it could still be spreading etc.

I just got hold of the secretary who says the hospital have my results but are waiting on the doctor/derm to sign off on it or something like that.

Does anyone know how long it could take for them to do that and for me to receive my results? It's really starting to affect me, I can't concentrate at uni or get anything done. At this point I would just really like to know, if that makes sense.

Thanks,

Lauren

  • Hi there :)
Sorry to hear you are still waiting it is such an anxious time!
I had my suspicious mole removed on 12/12/2021 so it's been just over 13 weeks and still no results. Like you I was told up to 8 weeks for results :( I called the secretary this morning and they advised the results had just been authorised at 04:48 this morning!! But they will be sent to consultant, then their secretary will notify me in writing so they told me I'm looking at another week until I actually get the results!!

I'm an absolute anxious mess!! So I can sympathise. I'm also 33 weeks pregnant which is not helping with my anxiety!

Sorry I couldn't be of much help but just wanted you to know your not alone. I hope you get your results soon and all clear.

  • Hi Laura!

Thanks for your reply, its nice just to know someone else is going through the same long waiting period- it really is stressful and I can only imagine how much more stressful it is while pregnant.
Hopefully we will both receive good news soon! The only thing we can do is wait I suppose and try to take our minds off it for another week or so (easier said than done I know). Wishing the best for you and anyone else in this situation.

    Lauren :)
