Raised Ca 125

Hi - just trying to get myself some peace for the next few days.

I have an ovarian cyst which was found in March 2021 with ca 125 level at 17.

I had an MRI and it showed what the consultant felt was a dermoid cyst. I had another scan in September and my Ca 125 had risen to 34.

My op to remove it was cancelled in December as I caught Covid and again in February because of a mix up and my bloods came back this time with a Ca 125 at 58.

Im having it removed (finger crossed) this week.

I'm really worried why it's rising :/ anyone have similar? X

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this worry, but it sounds like you are having all the right investigations and tests (including repeat scans and bloods).

I'm sure you already know this - your CA-125 can be raised for any number of reasons, especially if you are pre-menopausal (not sure of your age). These reasons can range from benign cysts, fibroids or endometriosis to the point in your menstrual cycle at which the bloods were taken.

I believe dermoid cysts are almost always benign too, so that should also be somewhat reassuring.

Wishing you all the best for your procedure this week.

Let us know how you get on x
