Hi all, I recently had to go for an endoscopic ultrasound after a CT scan showed dialated bile ducts. The ultrasound showed that there were no stones or blockages related to the gallbladder or pancreas but it did show that the common bile duct was dialated at 13mm and the main pancreatic duct was dialated at 4mm. No other information was given to me and I was sent home with a copy of the results and I assume that the consultant will be in touch at some point, this was about three weeks ago.
My initial concern was that the common bile duct measurement was a bit worrying and I didn't pay much attention to the main pancreatic duct being 4mm but yesterday after consulting Dr.google ( I know.....I shouldn't) it appears that cases where the main pancreatic duct is dialated there is a high risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
My main question is does anybody have any idea what to expect next, my consultant has been brilliant but the doctor who did the ultrasound was pretty vague and as I was sedated at the time I didn't really ask any questions. I feel a little in limbo at the moment.
Many thanks..
