Colon Polyps

Hi everyone,

Recently found out I've got polyps.   There were several small ones they removed (and sent for biopsy anyway) but one that was 3cm that they have biopsied and left for now until they get the results back and know what to do.

Started the wait feeling okay-ish, now getting increasingly anxious.

Is it possible for a 3cm polyp to be benign?

Trying not to panic, but also want to be prepared for potential outcomes.

Thanks

  • Hello Anxiously_waiting,

As time passes while you are waiting, you are bound to be feeling increasingly anxious. Many on our forum will be able to relate to how you are feeling and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. It's good that they have removed these polyps and I hope that you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results. Unfortunately no one here will be able to tell you whether a polyp of this size is benign or not. It certainly is possible that it is benign but only the biopsy will tell you for sure what it is exactly.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are some helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
