Two Week wait

Hi all - just been to the gp's about a black blemish on my lip that has appered. He has done an urgent referral to the local hospital mainly due to me being on immunsepresent meds for over 20 years.

Does this sound normal?

Obviously told not to worry but easirt said then done.

  • Hello djs230480 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

It is, as you said, often easier said than done not to worry but it may be that your being on immunosuppressant medication has triggered this urgent referral. Try if you can not to read anything into it and it's good that this black blemish is being looked into now as it means it will be dealt with sooner and you will get a definite diagnosis very soon.

All you can do in the meantime is wait which is by no means the easiest thing. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
