Who do I contact to find out MRI results? It's been 4 weeks

Hello,

I am new to all of this so apologies if I ask something is common knowledge. I am 22 and recently had an mri done for an unrelated issue, and my results showed a small tumor in my brain. I was asked to do another mri to determine if it was something called a rathke's cyst which is benign? It's been 4 weeks since my second test and I'm wondering if this means it is a "no news is good news situation"?

Also, I'm not quite sure who I call to follow this up, would it be my GP. I would appreciate any advice, I'm very worried.

    Hi Astoryofmorehope,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I can understand the stress that this is causing you after waiting for 4 weeks to get your results. Were you under a consultant at the time or were you referred by your GP? If you were under a consultant, you could try phoning the consultant's secretary to see if they are back yet, or how much longer they are likely to take. The number should be on any letter you have received from the consultant. If you don't have a number, then phone the hospital and ask to be put through to your consultant's secretary.

Your GP should also get the results, but it might take him/her a little longer to get them. Unfortunately, the amount of time we have to wait doesn't indicate either good or bad news. There are a number of delays nationwide due to the Covid situation.

I sincerely hope that this turns out to be a benign cyst. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on and remember, that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
