Light periods but agonising pain, scared

I am 35 and was on the pill for 5 years and didn't bleed once. Then suddenly last August I started spotting daily. Doctor said it's probably hormonal, I came off the pill. It settled into a monthly cycle. But now I have a period every month but it is very light, lasts 2-3 days but the pains are horrendous. This month was agony, it felt like the pain of childbirth. The doctor said I will need seen urgently. It's like the period can't come out. She mentioned cervical stenosis where the blood is trapped in the uterus. I'm terrified and can't stop googling. I have chronic health anxiety and waiting on tests drives me insane. I am paying privately to see a gynae next week. Has anyone else had something similar?

  • Hello Smoore921

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with a health concern and that you're due to see the gynaecologist next week.

For many people, this period of waiting for answers can be very difficult. When you struggle with managing health anxiety as well, things can be much more heightened.

Unfortunately, no one here on the forum can give you the answers that you want. Searching Google won't give you answers either but it will certainly leave you feeling even more anxious.

Please do look at the information on the NHS website that has advice for managing health anxiety. I'd also really encourage you to talk to your GP about the impact that this is having on your daily life and seek some professional support.

I hope that the specialist is able to give you some reassurance next week and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
