Concern over possible Lymphoma

Hi, firstly I'm sorry to bother you all as this is probably nothing.  About 3 months ago I discovered 3 strange lumps knitted together on the side of my neck, they are maluable and about 2 inch in diameter.  They are located where my lymp nodes would be.  I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and a nurse checked me out and discovered a number of other small pea sized lumps trailing down from the larger lumps and also some in my groin.  I have a FBC but that has all come back within normal limits along with confirmation I am in menopause.

I have been referred to the Head & Neck unit under the 2 week window to check whether it is cancer.  However, I was wondering if it could be because of my menopause, could this be the case, I am getting hot sweats at night, not profusely though and not hot in the day. My arms at the joints do ache alot laterly and I am getting fatigued in the afternoons which is not usually me.  I am worried and eager to have an answer, and I know on Friday I should know more from the hospital, but I would appreicate it if someone could perhaps tell me would those lumps be normal? and if anyone would know what is the process when I got to my visist at the hospital on Friday.  I dont want to over castrophise this situation if it is nothing, but it is worrying me a little.

  • Hi Mortimerme and welcome to Cancer Chat.

It's always worrying when we come across any unusual or unexplained lumps but I'm glad you sought out medical advice and have been referred for further investigation.

Waiting for tests is always tough but I'm glad you've joined us as you'll find many members of our community have been in similar situations so will know what you're going through at the moment and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their thoughts and support.

In the meantime, I just want to wish you all the best for tomorrow and hope you can get some answers and peace of mind.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
