Abnormal lump on cervix plus HPV for 3 years

Hi guys I'm looking for some advice,

For the past 3 years I have had high HPV levels on my smears, no abnormal cells have ever been detected and everything always looked fine..... till today.

During my 12 month repeat smear the nurse noticed what she described as "a large boil like lesion" on my cervix.

This combined with the HPV has made me worry, I also have symptoms of strong smelling discharge ...... I have been told it will be 4-6 weeks for my results and also that of it cones back HPV positive again to make sure I'm refused for further testing.

My health has been one thing after another over the past 7 years due to a genetic condition and now I'm petrified I'm going to be adding cancer to the list...... has anyone else had similar issues and have come back normal?

Thanks x

  • Hi Laura and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear what was found on your latest cervical screening and for the worry this, combined with your HPV, is causing.

We'll have our fingers crossed the results bring good news when they come through but I hope these 6 common questions about HPV as well as these HPV FAQs will help put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
