Shoulder, arm and now leg pain on right side

Hi,

I would really appreciate it someone could help.
Since last March I have had shoulder pain no previous injury to it. 6months ago pain going into arm and fingers and now 3months ago going into right leg. Feels worse at night, but also present through the day. Dull aching pain.

Neck MRI showed small amount of disc dehydration and inflammation.

Shoulder MRI small amount of bursitis.

No anti inflam/strong painkillers/physio have eased the pain so far. Doctors dont seem to know what's wrong and every time I speak with them it's like they are trying to get me off the phone. Last teleconsult was 6mins long and they are referring me back to shoulder specialist for a second opinion.

I'm convinced it's some form of lung cancer. I had a chest CT scan 5years ago and this could have caused it along with secondhand smoke exposure when I was at uni. I've never smoked.

I don't have a cough/breathlessness, so docs keep thinking it's not. But I've read some people just have shoulder pain alone?? Could anyone help shed some light, my pain is getting worse.

I have a 5year old and so scared of leaving her. I just don't know if I should be pushing for chest x-ray/other tests??

Thanks

  • Hi sunshine16,

I've had the same problem for many years and 7 years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The rheumatologist said that the doctors still don't understand why but pain on the right side of the body, mainly all joints and soft tissue, is regularly reported by fibromyalgia patients. This is mostly psychosomatic and very common in people suffering from post traumatic stress.
I find the best pain killer for me and the only one that works is aspirin.
I suggest you ask your GP to refer you to a rheumatologist and if you experienced trauma to refer you to a psychologist.
    I hope it helps.

    Best wishes
