2ww cervical

Hi everyone. I've been reading a lot of different forums and now it's my turn to ask for advice. In 22/2/21 I finally approached my GP about bleeding after sex, pain, and randomly bleeding. She examined and explained my cervix didn't look right and referred me for a 2ww at any of our local 3 hospitals. I get an appointment today and the only next available appointment Isn't until april. 6 weeks after being seen and referred. As you can imagine alot goes through your head when you egg the possibility and maybes and the unknown, constant worries. I'm not really sure what else I can physically do. My GP just so for me they grade and prioritise. Now I'm just hoping there isn't actually anything wrong with me when they do eventually see me.

  • Hello Lilo12 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear you have been referred and I hope you won't have to wait too long to get some definite answers. I can imagine a lot is going through your head at the moment as you are dealing with the unknown and so much uncertainty at the moment. There isn't anything you can physically do other than wait which is indeed the hardest thing and it's something many of our forum members will be able to relate to.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There is information on this page on how to cope while waiting for important news which I hope will help you get through the coming days.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
