Lumps in the vaginal wall

Hi I just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I'm worried sick and I can't cope with my feelings right now. A few days ago I noticed a group of oval shaped lumps of various size maybe a little larger than 5ps extending from the lowest posterior vaginal wall to just above mid way. They don't feel really hard and are painless. From what I've googled it's really scared me and I'm fearing the worse. Its not a prolapse or rectocele. I can also feel it from the anus side but it's stuck between the wall of the rectum and vagina. I think it's called the rectovaginal septum. Now I'm really worried I've got cancer. I don't know how long they have been there as I don't check these things. I'm early 30 with children. I'm just hoping they are some type of cysts. But I don't know if this is normal to have this inside the back vaginal wall. I'm so upset I just can't stop crying. Please it anyone has experienced this type of thing.

  • Hello Redbrick80,

Oh I am so sorry to hear this is causing you so much anxiety that you can't stop crying. Unfortunately no one on the forum will be able to tell you what it might be although I hope you will hear from others here who have had something similar and that they will share their story with you. But it's important that you get in touch with your GP and explain all this - hopefully they will be able to examine you and tell you what these lumps might be. There are so many things it could be that have nothing to do with cancer so try not to worry too much about it and to talk to a medical expert about your worries.

It sounds like you have scared yourself by googling all this and looking these things up online will always bring up the worst possible scenario so keep well away from the famously unreliable Dr Google! Instead, speak to a real doctor as soon as you can as this will I am sure give you the reassurance and clarity you need.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine and that you can be seen soon by your doctor.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Redbrick80,

I am sorry you're having a difficult time. I am in a situation a bit similar to yours but I have been seen by the GP and colorectal consultant and told, after rectal examinations that I have a mass behind the rectum wall, I believe between the rectum and vagina.

A colonoscopy was fine and nothing found inside the colum or rectum but the consultant could feel it outside, on the wall.

I just had an MRI and I am waiting for results.

My symptoms started almost 1 year ago with a dull lower left abdominal pain as in my left ovary. Transvaginal ultrasound was normal then.

I felt better for a few months but now I'm really unwell with the same pain and also in my lower back, same left side.

I hope you have some answers by now. All the best. Xxx

  • Hi honey sorry to hear about the problem your having. The lumps I felt have now shrunk and almost undetectable to feel. However I have got a gyno appointment in may. I'm hoping everything else is fine. I will you all the luck honey and take care
