Hello,

so a few weeks ago I found a lump in the upper part of my right breast. I'd say the 2'o clock position in a clock face. It is sore when I palpate it. I'd say it's a hard lump as opposed to a soft one.

 I had an ultrasound and mammogram appointment 2 weeks later but was discharged without much information other than I was fine to go home. I asked about a biopsy but was told it wasn't warranted. But it's the only definitive diagnostic test so I really don't understand why it wasn't just done ‍♀️

I then requested a copy of the letter from the hospital to my GP. This has brought up some other concerns for me. He's mentioned changes but nothing at all about monitoring them and the axillary tails can apparently become cancerous.

I had really hoped they would do a biopsy but I was fobbed off..

 I'm looking into private options now even though I can't really afford it..

I had hoped to be able to attach a screenshot of the letter but it doesn't seem to give this option so I will type it below:

"Thank you for referring this young lady to the breast clinic. She was worried about lumps, mainly in the right breast at the 8 O'clock position. She tells me that she does not do regular checks on herself.

On clinical examination she has bilateral lumpy breasts. Both axillary tails have fybrocystic changes however, in the area of concern at the 8 o clock position there was a small ridge of breast tissue which felt like either a cyst or benign changes.

Her mammogram was reported as normal - M2 and her ultrasound reported benign fybrocystic changes over the area of concern which we marked and did a targeted ultrasound over.

this lady was reassured and discharged from the clinic back to your care."

Now as I said before I went about 1 lump at the top of my breast so I have no idea why he mentions 8 o clock twice or why he said I went about "lumps"

i am 41 and my mum passed away from metastatic breast cancer 3 years ago. My grandmother (maternal) also passed away from metastatic cancer. I don't have much more information on her as she had passed before I was born.

I was told that because my mum was older (not in 30/40's) that this means a genetic link is unlikely..

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar?
